Manual to Auto Tranny Swap

There is a guy on another forum that will drive to cola and doa straight swap of his auto for my manual...Both are from 06 TJ's.

Please discuss the hows and whys and time frame of a swap like this, as well as any issues you may have found in doing a similar swap.

I have to put my manual in his rig as well, so any pointers on that would be helpful...

I know people dont like the 42re, but I am ready for an auto in my rig...the manual is getting on my nerves with the traffic patterns in Columbia.

Be prepared for problems and it'll take more than a day. There are electronics that will be required to swap over as well such as the Transmission Control Module and hope the connectors all match up, trans cooler lines, radiator, etc.

No, just be prepared to swap over more than just a tranny unit. It's easier to go from an auto to manual than the other way around.

Your PCM will have to be swapped, or reflashed. Trans cooler lines, shifter, wiring harness, possibly the gauge clusters! It's a bear of a job. Easier to swap jeeps!

When he gets to your place, swap wheels and tires with each other and then swap key chains. Then everyone will be satisfied. It's that easy!!
