Can I put a LP30 in a Cherokee 4x4?

Thinking since it is going to be a DD, and never see real wheeling, I could put the HP in my rig, and the LP in the cherokee....

Thoughts?

The most it will see is a 2" BB

Shoul be fine. The early Cherokees had LP 30s in them from factory. may have length issue with driveshaft. That is all i could see

Well thats a bummer I hope the Cherokee I have has a HP...never even thought to look

I think the early cherokees were all HP but the later models had LP i think after 99.

'84 - '98 is HP.
Some, if not all pre- '91(I think) are vacuum disconnect. Stay away from those.

What 97TJGUZZY said - all XJ's through '99 are hp, '00-'01 are low pinion 30's. Have never tried hp to lp swap due to strength, but I think driveshaft length is different.
